MIRC presents a free panel on the ‘33 1/3’ popular music book series, widely acclaimed by fans, musicians and scholars. The panel features three academics who have published books for the series, or are working towards publication. You’ll learn the goals of the series, how to submit a book proposal, writing tips, and more.

Dr. Ian Rogers (RMIT University) is a popular music studies scholar, and writes about musician ideology, music business and local music history.

Dr. Rosemary Overell (University of Otago, NZ) looks at the intersection of subjectivity and media forms, including subcultural music, social media and, more recently, cinema.

Dr. Jay Daniel Thompson (RMIT University) investigates ethical communication as an antidote to digital hostility and networked disinformation.

The panel is moderated by A/P Shelley Brunt (33 1/3 Japan editorial board, RMIT University).
